| Anindilyakwa Land Council (ALC) / Groote Eylandt Bickerton Island Enterprises (GEBIE) The Anindilyakwa Land Council (and their business arm GEBIE) are the primary partners and sponsors of the MJD Foundation. The ALC/GEBIE has committed over $2,000,000 in funding to the MJDF and has prioritised MJD in its negotiations for Regional Partnership Agreements (RPA) with the Commonwealth Government consistent with their authority as the Aboriginal cultural and physical custodians of the Groote Eylandt archipelago. Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA)
FaHCSIA has provided initial funding to establish the MJD foundation and commence the implementation of services to people with MJD in the Groote Eylandt region. Indigenous Affairs Minister Jenny Macklin announced the funding in March 2008 and she and her staff have been very supportive of the Foundation. ![]()
Genetics Health Queensland (GHQ)
Genetics Queensland has recently been awarded a contract to provide genetic testing and counselling services for the NT by the NTDH&CS. It is anticipated that the service will comprise visits to each region 3 times per year.
Professor John MacMillan has conducted several visits to the communities to date. => Read More
The MJD Foundation will assist family members to access Professor MacMillan during his visits and support the referral and follow up process for this important service within the community.
Professor MacMillan also provided feedback and advice regarding the preparation of some basic genetic education material appropriate to the region. The MJD Foundation will print, translate and distribute this material within the community. ![]()
NT Department of Health and Families
NT Department of Health and Families has appointed an MJD Coordinator who will work collaboratively with the MJD Foundation to implement services for MJD patients in the NT. ![]()
Anglicare NT
Anglicare NT partner with the MJD Foundation on providing travel and respite trips for MJD clients and their families. ![]()
Carers NT
Carers NT support the MJD Foundation through small grants and providing access to their Troopy Program![]()
Indigenous Community Volunteers
ICV works in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to design and implement community development projects. They draw on a large base of skills from all around Australia of people wishing to volunteer their time.
The MJD Foundation have established a partnership with ICV whereby ICV assist the MJD Foundation's projects by providing volunteers.
